Having been around since 1997, Date.com has had time to develop a good, solid site--and a solid membership base of about 2 million members. It doesn't blare with high-tech bells and whistles like web cam video, but it does everything you need a dating site to do, with a fast-loading, clean design.

Even with your free membership, you can view the full member profiles, search the member database, and upload your photo. You'll have to wait until you join to be able to chat online to your matches, but the people do have to pay the webmaster, after all.

The search capabilities are exceptional. If you use the 10-minute sign up, you've provided enough data for a quick search that can still include matches based on your interests and preferred physical traits.
